realizing that the inevitable is upon me
Well, It is now so close to March I can taste it. A friend of mine approached me on the square and mentioned that March 5th has been crocus day for the last three years. Having been despondant the last few weeks concerning the political state of our nation, he figured it was because of the lack of sunlight we have been getting. This is not the case. I have been realizing that the more I learn there is yet more to learn, and therefore, more to not know. This is a woman that spent her ENTIRE youth failing out of school, or almost, I only really failed fifth grade. I came close to failing kindergarten! I'm approaching my last semester at Western Illinois University, and I'm hoping this piece of paper and a buck gets me more than a substandard cup of coffee!
I've been reading a couple other blogs out there, one written weekly by a man named Richard Siken. He just got a book award for something like Best young Poet, wonderful writing in there. Crush, is the name of his book. I spent some time on his blog, and it was time well spent. What started happening, is that I noticed my eyes begin drawn more to the paintings than the words on the page, soon I was scrolling furiously, looking for the next picture. He is a wonderful painter! I love the colors as they contrast with the background! A definite feast for the eyes. The other blog I looked at was one by a Prof. here at Western, Bradley Dilger. He and his wife have created a neat little life for themselves.
I've been expanding my horizons with my own creative endeavors. I'm taking a Creative Nonfiction course this semester, and plan on taking not only advanced nonfiction but also advanced poetry. Then there is a Math class and something else, so that will be my four and then I'm out like abat outta hell! Going back home to Quincy to relax and clean my wounds, and prepare to get that "dream" job. Anything lower middle class would be nice, I don't feel any particular need to get rich, just out of debt.
