Washington Perk

Another wonderful coffee experience is going to the Washington Perk, inside the Granite Bank Gallery. There, you'll find something to decorate your home, and something to frame your artwork in as well as family photographs. The coffee is awesome. I would definitely recommend a stop in there for lunch. Very elegant. Nice arry of salads and they also carry awide variety of cold drinks. The seating is exceptional and there is even a place to bring your child. There are toys as well as magazines for your enjoyment. This is also a WIFI hotspot, so you can catch up on deadlines, or just sit and check your email. Just outside is Washington Park, a nice place to relax and have lunch. I'm more than sure you can pick up an internet signal there too.

In the summer, Washington Park is home to the free blues in The Park event, held every other friday night from approximately june, through august. This even is free and open to the public, bring alawn chair, and your beverage of choice. The event is often sponsored by local businesses asa wayofprooting the downtown area. In July, there is the Mid-Mississippi Muddy Waters Blues Bash. This event runs for two days, and is a highlight of summer in Quincy. There is also the Mid-Summer Arts Fair. This brings in artists from around the area to place in the juried art exhibit, and to see the work of other artists.

July Fourth on the riverfront is awesome! My cousins and my dad all park their trucksdown there in the morning, so they'll have good seats for the show. We usually bring an assortment of drinks, as well as hamburgers and hotdogs and brats. Usually the family begins to congregate there around seven pm, and we stay until the show is over. Nothing says summer like the riverfront fourth. There is usually a musical rendition of Sousa's work as well as other patriotic tunes by the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. They do a wonderful job. I'm looking forward to the fourth of July this year. I only have one more semester at Western Illinois University, and I'm going home for good! I can't wait!
