About seven weeks left!!
I'm having a pretty good week this week. We were able to host a writer named Rick Bass on campus. He does lots of nature writing and activism. I enjoyed his talk, but I didn't really have too manyquestions forhim, and itseems as though no one else did either. He gave a craft talk on Tuesday and on Wednesday he did a reading. It went by pretty quickly. I don't know why people were in such a funk tonight. I guess either way, the dude got paid, and that'swhat counts. He lives off the grid. I'm proud and jealous of him for that.
This morning we had a guest speaker in our Cultural Anthropology class as well as a brown bag lunch session with a native american "Two Spirit" otherwise known by herself, as a Gender Adventurer. She said she doesn't like the term "Transgender" because she said it feels like you're talking about a moving company. That was funny. I liked this lady a lot. I wish I could have heard more about her being a Lakota, rather than the gender thing. That was what I was drawn to, rather than her gender preference and the switch from Male to Female...oh well.
My mom called me and left a message that I shouldn't worry about the wildfires that are burning down there. Shoot, I didn't even know they were lit up in the first place! She said they were about twenty miles from where she is. When I was alst there a couple years ago, I didn't see much that would burn in her particular area except a little brush.
