Mortgage bailouts
Well, here we are, well into the bailout proceedingsof the economic collapse due to the lack of sound judgement in our Federal Government. I can remember afew years back wondering to myself why there were so many new houses being built in the pricier subdivisions when there were at that time so many people losing their jobs in the manufacturing sector. I lived in Quincy, Illinois at the time and was seeing very large upscale units being built.....very nice in fact. Quincy had no new factories coming to town. Blessing Hospital was expanding a bit, but not enough to support that kind of building. I just couldn't see where the money was coming from. We had acquired several new restaurants, but no real big-money draws. We were creating jobs, yes, but these were low-income jobs, and required no extra training or expertise. Our minimum wagehas gone up quite a bit in my own lifetime. With that, the prices for everyday goods and services has also risen. I used to be able to get a dozen eggs for approximately a dollar per....now it's almost two. Might as well bite the bullet and get the local eggs, or organic. Have been known to do that.
