Finals week!!!

@ 05:32 PM (11 months, 12 days ago)

I'm so very happy to be in the final week of school and getting my exams out of the way. Crossing my fingers about math. We'll just have to see. The other two classes are in the bag, so no stress there. I'm sitting here reading reports of single digit lows tonight and I'm thankful for the heat in my home. I'm thankful for the electricity, since the people that live in the plains have it rough. The air gets much colder and they are on plains, which means that there aren't nearly as many trees to block the wind. It has free course out there. The snows get pretty bad as well. People are sitting in their homes without power, but my lights are on and my heater's running, my water runs too. I have to thank God for those things. I turned my washing machine on and it washed my clothes. I have food in my freezer, my regrigerator, and my pantry! God is a good God. I got a little note from my brother. I hadn't had yahoo messenger downloaded, so I got them late, but they were there waiting on me.

I bought some whole milk the other day when I got paid. I had been inspired since I uit drinking milk several years ago, but I have been trying to go back to some old paths, and I tried some whole milk in my coffee at work, because we are out of creamer. I am telling you it was wonderful, plus I had some cereal that needed to be eaten. I hadn't hadcheerios in a long long time either! I have been depriving myself of some good things. I think it boils down to not really doing a lot of grocery shopping and getting myself into a food rut. I thought I had to have soymilk instead of regular, and only wanted to drink the really good creamers, which aren't really cream, but something entirely different. Again, just trying to find some old paths. Trying to eat whole foods  instead of a lot of processsed food. It's truly an interesting thing. I'm learning what really satisfies hunger and the things that only make it worse for us later in life. Did you all know that Equal can be used to kill sugar ants? I guess a friend of mine told me that it dehydrates the brains and kills them. Makes me wonder what prolonged use does to our own brains. There have been reports of people getting headaches from eating fake sugar. Makes one wonder. I'm also curious to find out what the root cause of diabetes is. There are more and more children coming down with it, and I know it has something to do with what we are feeding them. Are we going to Mcdonalds every day or are they getting good cereals at home...I just wonder. I would love to know. What I do know is this. God put plants and animals on this earth for our consumption. There are certain animals he labelled clean and certain ones he labelled unclean. I try to avoid pork for the most part. I do eat it on occasion, but not a consistent diet of it, as I know it isn't good for me. Illinois is a huge pork producer, so pork is almost always the cheapest meat available. pigs and corn...yuck!!! We feed our cattle corn to speed up the processing time from mother to slaughterhouse. If cattle were fed grass, they would take about five years to finish out and be ready for slaughter, but we want them to be done in eighteen months. The meat is marbled better that way. Makes one wonder what is going on with our muscle tissues too, when we consume a steady diet of corn products. Don't get me wrong, I've got corn chips sitting here, and they taste good. BUt...I wonder wht my muscles look like...what my organs look like.

I'm hearing the freezing rain hit the trailer. We are in for a rough night of weather. Accumulations are expected to be around an inch of snow, on top of a tenth of an inch of ice. Should make things pretty interesting. So how is everyone???

  1. mmmmm bacon....wrapped around a good thick fillet mignon, grilled extra rare over a mesquite, and pecan wood fire, with a quick searing in the actual flames just prior to plating it....have it sizzling on the plate.....and get a angioplasty later....lol...stay warm...riff
